Articles of note: One article would add a new 1% local option sales tax and direct revenues to a capital reserve fund for the town. Contested races:There are four people running for two two-year seats on the Selectboard: Susan M. Buckholz, Rocket, Brandon Smith and Aaron Warner. There are two people running for one three-year seat on the Selectboard: Patrick Francis Danaher and Ida Griesemer. There are two uncontested School Board seats up for election.
Budgets and spending articles: The School Board has rescinded its budget and delayed the vote. The proposed municipal budget is $21.4 million, of which $3.2 million is to come from non-tax revenue, $2 million from unassigned fund balance and the balance from taxes. Last year, Hartford voters approved a $19 million municipal budget.
When, where and how to vote: A budget and candidates night is scheduled for Monday, Feb. 26 at 7 p.m. in the Hartford High School auditorium. Annual town and school district meetings are scheduled for Saturday, March 2 at 10 a.m. in the Hartford High School gymnasium. Town Meeting will be held following the school meeting. Australian ballot voting is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, March 5 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Hartford High School gymnasium.
