Gus Tampasis, left, hands out water to Green Mountain Power line foreman John Mulherin, second left, line worker Rick Aldrich, second right, and Windsor Police Chief Jennifer Frank, right, after a tree service crane touched power lines in Windsor, Vt., across the street from his home on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023. Tampasis said Rice Tree Service took down a tree in his yard earlier that morning and proceeded to cut a tree across the street after having cut other trees in the neighborhood a day earlier. Mulherin said it was fortunate no one was killed as electricity grounded out through the truck and emphasized the danger of being killed by downed power lines, even when not directly contacting the source of electricity. Windsor Firefighter and Paramedic Andy Vinopal said if you witness an electrical emergency, to keep back and call 911. “Resist the urge to rush in,” he said. (Valley News – James M.
