STRAFFORD — The towns of Strafford and Thetford are looking for residents interested in serving on the towns’ respective Selectboards after two current members resigned.

Rod Sloat resigned from the Strafford Selectboard July 6 “due to an unexpected family medical situation,” Selectboard chairman John Freitag wrote in an email to residents.

The resident the Selectboard appoints to the seat will serve until Town Meeting in March. Those interested in the spot must email at letter of interest to townclerk@straffordvt.org by July 24.

In Thetford, Mary Bryant said she has resigned from her seat on the Selectboard due to personal reasons. She made clear her departure has nothing to do with the town or board’s dynamics.

“We’re highly functional as a board right now and our new town manager is great,” Bryant said in a phone interview Monday.

Her term expires in March 2025, though the appointee will serve until Town Meeting next March.

Those interested in serving on the board should send a letter of interest by Aug. 8 by email to selectboard@thetfordvt.gov or by mail to Thetford Selectboard, P.O. Box 126, Thetford, Vt., 05075.

The Selectboard will appoint someone at a special meeting on Aug. 14 or its regularly scheduled meeting on Aug. 21, according to an announcement from the town.
