LEBANON — Barbara and Dick Couch have donated $2.5 million to Dartmouth Health to start the Couch Endowed Fund for Inclusive Excellence Faculty Fellowships at Dartmouth Cancer Center.

“This gift was inspired by our belief that the educational and research mission of Dartmouth Health and the Dartmouth Cancer Center is greatly enhanced by a diverse faculty,” the Couch family said in a news release. “We believe in the medical center’s commitment to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment necessary to retain the diverse faculty that this gift is designed to recruit and support.”

The Couch’s donation follows a $25 million donation made earlier this year by Dorothy Byrne to create the Byrne Family Cancer Research Institute. Of that $25 million donation, $2.5 million will be used to match the funds the Couches donated to establish the fellowship program.
