HARTLAND — A 55-year-old Springfield, Vt. man died in a single-vehicle accident on the Quechee Hartland Road, near the intersection of Briar Patch Road in Hartland on Sunday, according to a Vermont State Police news release.
Scott Sargent was driving a 1997 Chevrolet Silverado and not wearing a seatbelt when he drifted off the right side of the roadway and collided with a tree, according to the preliminary investigation into the crash.
State Police, the Hartland Fire Department and Windsor Rescue responded to the scene after being notified of the crash at about 5:30 p.m. Once there, first responders determined that Sargent had died.
The vehicle was totaled and Bob’s Service Center later removed it.
Investigation into the crash is ongoing. State Police ask crash witnesses to call them at 802-234-9933.
