HARTLAND — The beach and boat ramp at North Hartland Lake will close in mid-August to allow the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to begin a construction project there, according to a news release.
The closure is slated to begin Aug. 15 to allow a contractor to remove a plugged culvert that runs under the parking lot, lawn and beach, and drains into the lake. The culvert will be rerouted under the road as part of the project.
Visitors will not be able to walk their boats or kayaks down to the lake to launch during construction, but the shelters, playground equipment, bathroom and trails will remain open until the recreation season ends on Sept. 5. North Hartland Lake park is open daily from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
Picnic shelter reservations can be made by calling the National Recreation Reservation Service toll free at 877-444-6777 or online at www.recreation.gov.
