SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — The body of a deceased man discovered near the side of the road in Springfield, Vt., is being investigated as a “suspicious death,” Vermont State Police said in a news release.
VSP said it received a call on Monday at 12:18 p.m. from a resident reporting that what appeared to be the body of a deceased adult alongside the road in the area of 99 Greeley Road.
The “initial phase” of an investigation has been launched by the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Search Team, Victim Services Unit and Field Force Division along with assistance from the Springfield Police Department, VSP said.
The victim’s body has been brought to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for an autopsy to determine the cause and manner of death. His identity is being withheld pending further investigation and notification of next of kin, VSP said.
