LEBANON — This period’s property tax bills will be late due to a change in software, but taxpayers will still have 30 days to pay their bill. City residents will see other changes as well related to payments made to the city due to the new software installed in April.
Tax bills will likely be mailed some time next week. Bills will not be due July 1; instead, taxpayers will have 30 days from the day the bill is issued.
The city anticipates staffing shortages and asks taxpayers to avoid calling to check on the status of the bill.
When July bills are ready, an announcement will be made on the city website.
Residents will not be able to view past property tax bills because the prior years’ information could not be carried forward to the new system.
Copies of older tax bills are available at City Hall.
The new software will impact online payments, which are already available for dog licensing and vital record requests.
Any scheduled payments set up by resident will not carry over. Payments need to be made using the new online system, by mail or in person.
Payment fees also will change.
The fee, which is imposed by the city’s third-party processing center, is charged at the time of the transaction.
The debit or credit card fee will be reduced slightly from 2.95% to 2.79%, with a $1.50 minimum. This fee is assessed whether payments are made online or in person.
Cash or check payments made in person will not be assessed a fee.
ACH payments where the funds are transferred from your checking account, will incur a fee of 95 cents.
