TUNBRIDGE — A Tunbridge man was killed when his vehicle collided with another vehicle on Route 14 in Williamstown, Vt., on Saturday morning, Vermont State Police reported.

David Welch, 37, was driving north on Route 14 near Chelsea Road when he entered a southbound lane and his 2002 Mazda Tribute collided head-on with a 2007 Chevy Truck driven by Michael Merrill, of Williamstown, according to police.

Welch was pronounced dead at the scene, and Merrill, 72, was transported to Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin, Vt., for non-life-threatening injuries.

Vt. Route 14 was closed for about 4 hours while crews were on scene, police said.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing, and anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact Trooper David Lambert at the Middlesex State Police Barracks.
