WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — The Good Buy Thrift Store on Hartford Avenue has closed, according to a news release from Southeastern Vermont Community Action, the Westminster, Vt.-based nonprofit that ran the store.
As retail thrift and consignment options have increased in the Upper Valley, in part through the expansion of Listen Community Services thrift stores in White River Junction, Lebanon and Canaan, SEVCA said it will shift its attention and resources to focus more on its Springfield and Bellows Falls thrift store locations.
“In a real way, the closure of the Good Buy Thrift Store in Hartford can also be seen as a success, for, as an economic development strategy, the area now has multiple other thrift store options that provide sufficient resources to serve the community of Hartford with high quality and affordable goods,” Kevin Brennan, SEVCA’s executive director, said in the May 19 release.
In 2016, the organization closed a Good Buy store that had been located in Hartford’s recycling center on Route 5.
SEVCA continues to provide services in White River Junction at its outreach office at 222 Holiday Drive, Suite 21.
