Article of Note: Article 23: “Shall the voters of the Town appropriate $63,436 for Vershire Fire & Rescue for the fiscal year 2022-23?”
The proposed Vershire Fire & Rescue budget is up nearly $24,000 over the prior year, which represents the largest single item increase on the warrant. The article will be reviewed during an informational hearing at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Vershire Town Center Building, and the article will be voted on by Australian ballot the following day.
Contested Races: There are no contested races.
Budgets and spending articles: The general fund budget for the year is $324,000, about a $15,000 increase from last year, which is not expected to have a large impact on the tax rate, Town Clerk Gene Craft said. The highway budget is $420,000, up about $22,000 from last year. The Rivendell Interstate School District budget of $13.32 million passed at a district meeting in March. That budget was up by $600,000 from last year and serves the district’s three schools: Samuel Morey Elementary, Westshire Elementary and Rivendell Academy.
When, where and how to vote: Vershire Town Meeting will take place at the Town Center Building on Sunday beginning at 1 pm. Ballot voting for articles 17-23, including the election of two Selectboard members and votes on the general fund, highway, and fire & rescue budgets will take place between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the same location.
