UNITY — At Saturday’s three-hour floor meeting, voters approved a $1.39 million general fund budget, a $370,000 appropriation for the reconstruction of Stage Road and $200,000 for the Roads and Bridges Maintenance Capital Reserve Fund.

Only two articles were defeated. Changing the position of tax collector to elected from appointed lost, 15-71, and a petitioned article to adopt an Ethics and Conflict Ordinance failed, 17-65.

By a vote of 69-7, voters approved an article requiring all Unity Library expenditures to be paid through the town’s bookkeeper.

In the only contested race for town and school officers on Tuesday, Judith Huff won a three-year seat on the Library Board of Trustees with 145 votes. Debra Leahy received 51 and Sherry Pardy 7.

Garry Bator ran unopposed for a three-year seat on the Selectboard and Antonya Hart and Shannon Popescu were re-elected to the School Board without opposition.

Incumbent moderator Fred Bellimer and incumbent town clerk Ramona Labrie were also re-elected.

The annual school meeting is Saturday beginning at noon in the Unity Elementary School.
