CHARLESTOWN — At all-day balloting Tuesday, voters defeated a petition article (250-155) to form a committee that would make a recommendation as to whether Charlestown should switch to a town manager form of government from the town administrator form of government it has now.

All other articles including the $6.24 million budget, a highway truck lease purchase, a building code amendment and a solar exemption passed. But voters defeated an article to give the Selectboard the authority to establish or amend fees per state statute and a petition article to reclassify Borough Road.

In the only contested race, Keith Weed (196) and Richard Carter (234) were elected to three-year seats on the planning board over Richard Lincourt (186).
