WINDSOR — The Windsor Southeast Supervisory Union Board is scheduled to discuss mask protocols in Windsor-area schools on March 14, according to the superintendent.

In the meantime, school administrators and the COVID task force will be using input from staff, parents and students, as well as data on positive cases and vaccinations, and guidance from the Vermont Agency of Education and the Department of Health to create a draft recommendation, Superintendent David Baker wrote in a Friday message to families.

Vermont Gov. Phil Scott announced last week that state officials were going to stop recommending masks in most indoor locations, including schools, beginning March 14.

As of Friday, survey data WSESU officials had collected indicated that 67% of parents and 70% of students were ready to lift mask requirements, while 55% of employees were not, Baker said.

Almost all employees at WSESU are vaccinated, under a mandate the supervisory union issued in August. By school, student vaccination rates range from 50-60%, he said.

The virtual meeting is scheduled to take place on Monday at 6:30 p.m. and can be accessed at: https://meet.google.com/tdb-pfuu-gio.

The Hartford School Board also is slated to discuss making changes to its masking protocols at its meeting on Wednesday at 6 p.m. The agenda and the link to the online meeting are on the Web at hsdvt.com/school-board.
