BRIDGEWATER – By a one-vote margin, voters defeated a proposal to eliminate the office of the town lister and replace it with a professional assessor, who would have taken on the town lister’s current duties.
The vote was 152 to 151 against the article. All other articles, which include nearly $1.3 million in town expenditures, passed.
Melissa Spear was elected town treasurer with 157 votes, defeating Nancy Robinson who garnered 136 votes. William Oscar Young ran unopposed for a three-year seat on the Selectboard.
