Article of note: Voters will be asked to establish the Highway Building Reserve Fund to meet the future building needs of the town’s highway department. If approved, an initial deposit of $40,000 from the fiscal year 2021 highway fund surplus will go into the proposed reserve fund.

Contested races: Lister, three years.

Budgets and spending articles: The Selectboard is asking voters to approve spending $640,350 of taxpayers’ money to defray the general expenses of the town. In a separate article, residents will vote on a proposed highway budget of $780,000, also raised through taxes.

When, where and how to vote: In-person voting by Australian ballot for town officers and articles will be held on Town Meeting Day, March 1, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Polling will take place at Newbury Village Hall, more commonly known as the gym at Newbury Elementary School, 214 Pulaski St.

An informational meeting regarding the articles is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 24, at 6 p.m. via Zoom. Information on how to join the meeting can be found on the town’s website: newburyvt.org.
