Article of note: Sharon voters will be asked in Australian ballot voting on March 1 if they want to authorize the Selectboard to appoint the town treasurer or continue to fill the position by election every three years.
Voters will also be asked if they want to eliminate the โsecond constableโ position.
Contested races: A three-year term on the Selectboard; a three-year term on the Sharon School Board.
Budgets and spending articles: Voters will be asked to approve a $1.86 million municipal operating budget โ $791,000 for the general fund and $1.1 million for the highway fund โ of which $1.3 million would be raised by property taxes, according to Sharonโs 2022 Annual Report.
Thatโs an increase of $53,000, or 4.2%.
On the school side, voters will be asked to approve a spending budget of $5.4 million, $363,000 more than the school spending budget proposed and approved by town voters last year.
When, where and how to vote: Voting is scheduled to take place on March 1 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Sharon Town Office at 15 School St. in Sharon.
