Article of note: Voters will have the opportunity to weigh in on the elimination of the office of the town lister, which is responsible for determining property values so that tax rates can be properly set. If the office is eliminated, the town lister will be replaced with a professional assessor who will take on the town lister’s current duties and powers.

Contested races: Incumbent town treasurer Nancy Robinson will be challenged by Melissa Spear. Robinson has previously worked as town clerk, and Spear has previously served as a town lister.

Budgets and spending articles: The warning calls for town expenditures of nearly $1.3 million, with $935,000 raised from taxes. This represents an increase in required taxes of over $150,000 from last year’s expenditures. 

When, where and how to vote: Voting by Australian ballot will be held on Tuesday, March 1, from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. at the Town Office. Drive-through voting will be available at the Town Office parking area.
