WEST LEBANON — The underpass between the Kohl’s Plaza and the Target Plaza was closed for about an hour on Saturday afternoon as first responders worked to clean up a crash.

Emergency medical technicians pulled two people from a car that had landed on its roof after flipping off Interstate 89 above.

At the scene as a light snow fell, Lebanon Police Sgt. Garrett Hubert said the crash at least initially appeared to be “weather-related.”

The two people seemed to be “OK” but were being transported to the hospital to be checked out, he said.

In addition to Lebanon police, ambulance and fire personnel from Lebanon and an ambulance from Hanover also responded to the scene.

Bethel resident Darren Perkins, who watched the rescue operation from the sidewalk near the underpass, said he was behind the car when it skidded off the highway, hit a guardrail and flipped down.

“It was fast,” he said.
