HANOVER — At long last, the Dartmouth College men’s hockey team is back in the win column.

A night after dropping a 3-2 decision to Brown at Thompson Arena, the Big Green (4-17-3, 2-13-2 ECAC Hockey) picked up a 1-0 victory over Yale on Saturday, winning in regulation for the first time since Dec. 30.

Junior Mark Gallant scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season in the first period, and sophomore goaltender Clay Stevenson made it stand up with 37 saves for his first shutout of the year.

In Friday’s loss to the Bears, Dartmouth found itself trailing less than four minutes in and never quite recovered. Freshman Sean Chisholm, the Big Green’s points leader, scored Dartmouth’s first goal early in the second period, and a power play goal by senior Jeff Losurdo in the third again narrowed the deficit to one, but the equalizer never came.

Following a makeup game at Princeton on Monday night, Dartmouth will host Quinnipiac on Friday before welcoming the Tigers to Hanover on Saturday.

Dartmouth (5-15, 2-7 Ivy League) was a paltry 1-for-20 from 3-point range, a recipe for disaster for a team that relies so heavily on the deep ball. Fifth-year forward Aaryn Rai was the only Big Green player in double figures, with 12 points.

Dartmouth will return to Leede Arena this weekend, hosting Columbia on Friday and Cornell on Saturday.

HANOVER — Dartmouth won all four Nordic events at its home carnival over the weekend at Oak Hill, but a lackluster performance in the women’s Alpine race dropped the Big Green to second place overall, behind Vermont.

Freshman Luke Allan took first individually in the men’s 10K freestyle, and fellow freshman Jasmine Drolet was second in the women’s event.
