After dipping themselves into the Connecticut River in Hanover, N.H., Sam Douglas, of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Landon Hall, of West Lebanon, N.H., dry off. They were at the river with Douglas' father and Halls' husband, Geoffrey Douglas (not pictured). When they arrived at the river, they first had to chip away at the ice with a ski pole and walking stick. Sam Douglas said one of the reasons they did this was because "I was feeling sluggish and over warm, cold water zips me up a little bit." Hall laughed. "We ate too much shepherd's pie last night," she said. (Valley News - Jennifer Hauck) Copyright Valley News. May not be reprinted or used online without permission.
