HANOVER — Jared R. Malsin and Ruth L. Michaelson were married on Saturday, Oct. 23, 2021, at Frederiksberg Town Hall, Copenhagen, Denmark.

The wedding was attended by the bride’s parents, Madeleine and Frazer Michaelson of London, England, and the bridegroom’s parents, Gail and Peter Malsin of Hanover, along with the bridegroom’s sister Dr.Mikaela Malsin with her boyfriend John Turner and a close friend of the bride’s, Sara Yassin. The wedding lunch was held at Vaekst, a greenhouse setting offering farm to table selections.

The bride and bridegroom met while working as journalists in Cairo, Egypt. Currently based in Istanbul, Turkey, the bridegroom is a middle east correspondent for the Wall Street Journal while the bride writes for several publications including The Guardian. Previously the bridegroom wrote for Time Magazine and freelanced for several publications including The New York Times. Earlier in his career he headed the English desk at the Ma’an News Agency in Bethlehem, Palestine.

The bridegroom graduated from Hanover High School (2003), Yale University (2007), and New York University (2013) where through a MacKraken fellowship in Near Eastern Studies and journalism he received his master’s degree. 

The bride graduated from the Henrietta Barnett School, Hampstead Garden South, London, England (2005), The University of  Manchester, England (2010), and received her master’s degree in 2014 from the Toni Stabile Center for Investigative Journalism, Columbia University.

The couple briefly honeymooned in Barcelona, Spain, reserving some of their vacation time to visit each of their families during the upcoming holidays.
