BETHLEHEM, Pa. — The Dartmouth College women’s volleyball team claimed the title at the Lehigh Steel Tournament at Lehigh University on Saturday, taking a four-set win from St. Francis Brooklyn to complete a three-match sweep of their schedule.
With three players recording double-doubles for the second straight match, Dartmouth (3-0) prevailed by scores of 25-19, 23-25, 25-21 and 25-23.
Makenzie Arent (21 assists, 17 digs) and Karen Murphy (20 assists, 13 digs) enjoyed big all-around afternoons for the Big Green. Ellie Blain also joined in the double-double department with a team-high 18 kills to go with 17 digs. Arent and Taite Ryan had two service aces each. Amelia Gibbs and Francesca Meldrum paced the net defense with three blocks apiece.
The Big Green returns to Hanover to hosts its Dartmouth Invitational next weekend, with New Hampshire, Holy Cross and Connecticut visiting.
