An Orleans, Vt., woman is accused of robbing the Maplefields convenience store where she works, after first using a stun gun on a clerk multiple times.

Jenna Connelly, 40, was arrested Wednesday after the incident earlier in the day and now faces a charge of assault and robbery, according to the Vermont State Police.

The incident took place at a Maplefields on Main Street in Orleans, which is part of the town of Barton.

Investigators said the store clerk called police at about 6:30 a.m. and said she had been robbed.

The clerk told troopers that the robber had stunned her repeatedly with a Taser-like device before fleeing the convenience store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash, police said.

When investigators reviewed the storeโ€™s surveillance camera footage, they identified the robber as Connelly, a fellow employee of the Maplefields who was off work at the time, according to a press release.

The clerk received minor injuries in the incident, police said.

Later that day, troopers arrested Connelly at the home of a relative and said they found evidence related to the robbery.

Connelly was held at Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport that night on $5,000 bail and was slated to be arraigned Thursday.
