LEBANON, NH — James D. Oronte, of Lebanon, New Hampshire, died peacefully at home with his family on Wednesday, February 10, 2021, at the age of 67. James was born on September 2, 1953, in Hanover to Joseph and Arlene (Moody) Oronte. He grew up in the Upper Valley area and felt fortunate to maintain many lifelong friendships with so many of those he knew from childhood. At a Christmas party at Dartmouth, he met the love of his life, Linda Brock, and they were married in Hancock, Massachusetts on August 27, 1988. He was a devoted and proud father to their two daughters, Caitlin and Ashley.

James was an exceptional cook who inherited his love of Italian cooking from his grandfather. Over the course of his career, he worked at illustrious restaurants in several states and cooked for former US President George H. W. Bush. He was passionate about the Red Sox, dedicated to the First Congregational Church in Lebanon as a Deacon, and a kind, caring man who loved to make others smile.

James is survived by his wife, Linda A. Oronte and his two daughters, Caitlin and Ashley Oronte, all of Lebanon; two brothers, Bruce and David Oronte; other relatives and many wonderful friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

James would want everyone to stay safe, so a celebration of his life will be held later this summer.
