Hot topic: West Fairlee, like other towns in Vermont this year, is forgoing its usual hybrid between floor meeting and ballot voting. Instead, there will be an informational meeting by Zoom, and all articles will be voted on by Australian ballot.
Budget: The Selectboard has presented a budget seeking about $2,300 less than last year, and appropriation requests are the same except for contractual increase of $1,300 for Upper Valley Ambulance, according to Selectboard Chair Delsie Hoyt. The warning asks voters to approve $768,374 in operating expenses and appropriations, which would require raising $643,754 in taxes.
Contested races: There are no contested races this year.
When and where: An informational meeting on the budget will be held by Zoom on Monday, Feb. 22, at 6 p.m. A link has not yet been assigned. Australian ballot voting itself will be on Tuesday, March 2, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Community Building.
