HANOVER, NH — Mr. Victor Lawrence Kaplan, 86, died on December 24, 2020, at his home in Hanover, New Hampshire following a lengthy battle with multiple health issues.
A beloved husband, father, grandfather, and soon to have been great grandfather, Victor was loved dearly by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.
Born to Richard and Frances Kaplan in the Bronx, New York, on April 17th, 1934, Victor attended Theodore Roosevelt High School. At the age of 17, he joined the United States Navy and proudly served during the Korean War. While attending a USO dance in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Victor met Geraldine Elliff who he would later marry and share four children. Victor was an active and engaged parent and was a youth coach for local baseball and football teams in Northfield, NJ. He also served his community as a volunteer firefighter.
Following his love for the outdoors and green mountains, Victor moved to New England in the late 70’s, and would eventually settle in Hanover. There he met and married Beverly P. Aamot, and would spend the next 25+ years together enjoying the beauty of New England and attending concerts, museum openings and theatre productions at Dartmouth College.
Victor shared the last decade of his life with his partner, Jeanne Sammon. Victor and Jeanne enjoyed travelling together, visiting with Victor’s children and grandchildren, and weather permitting, could always be found every Saturday at the Norwich Farmers Market.
Victor’s greatest joy was his family, and he leaves behind 4 children: Stephen, Jaime, Kathy, and Christopher; and 8 grandchildren.
Victor was predeceased by Beverly Aamot; his younger brother, Harvey; and his son-in-law, Tim Moranor.
