NEWPORT — An outbreak of COVID-19 at the Woodlawn Care Center as of Friday had grown to include 43 people: 28 residents and 15 workers.
Three residents have died after testing positive for COVID-19; two others are hospitalized and two have recovered, according to a Friday email from Chris Martin, the Newport nursing home’s administrator. One staff member also has recovered.
The outbreak, the largest reported in the Upper Valley so far, began on Oct. 21. After issuing a plea for additional staff to assist during the outbreak last weekend, “staffing is full now,” Martin said in his email.
“We had DOZENS of responses it was heart warming,” he wrote. “There are many caring individuals out there ready to serve our most vulnerable during this time.”
■Separately, the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services also announced one COVID-19 related death of a man over age 60 in Grafton County on Friday. New Hampshire announced 462 new cases, including 19 in Grafton County and six in Sullivan County on Friday. There were 35 active cases in Newport; 12 in Hanover; eight each in Claremont, Charlestown, Lebanon and New London; six in Sunapee; and five in Canaan.
■Dartmouth College had five active cases as of Friday; three students and two employees.
■Colby-Sawyer College in New London had three active cases as of Thursday.
