NORTH HARTLAND — Police arrested a Hartland man and were looking for another suspect in relation to a home invasion Thursday morning, according to a news release from the Vermont State Police.
Aaron Gobin, 33, pleaded not guilty Friday in Rutland Superior Court to reckless endangerment as well as felony charges of assault, aggravated assault and burglary, according to court records. He was ordered held without bail following his plea, according to Windsor County State’s Attorney Ward Goodenough. The arraignment was in Rutland court because that is where he is now incarcerated.
Colby Bowen, 29, who was still at large Friday afternoon, faces similar charges, and police believed he was “armed and dangerous,” the release said. Police said he is 5-feet-7, 200 pounds and has brown hair and a beard.
The charges follow a home invasion around 7 a.m. Thursday at a house on Route 5 in North Hartland. The two men, who were armed, kicked in the door of the home where two people they knew were living, according to an affidavit written by Vermont State Police Detective Trooper Tyler Noyes. The men assaulted the residents, stole money from the home and fled in a vehicle, according to the release.
The victims, whose names were not released, had minor injuries after the assault. Hartford police found and arrested Gobin in Wilder on Thursday afternoon but had not located Bowen by Friday afternoon.
Gobin has a history of felony criminal convictions that include a robbery from 2014, an escape from 2014, a habitual offender penalty from 2011 and another habitual offender penalty from 2009, according to the affidavit.
