OCALA, FL — Jack M. Ruffing passed away peacefully on October 26, 2020 at his home in Ocala, Fl surrounded by his family. He was born in Altoona, PA on May 13, 1934 to Edward and Fae Ruffing. Jack attended Altoona HS and was a 4-sport athlete. Soon after graduating he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed at Plattsburgh Air Force Base with the 380th Bombardment Wing. Jack excelled in sports and played basketball and baseball for the Air Force Base Teams. Upon his discharge from the Air Force he moved to Glens Falls NY where he worked for the Continental Insurance Company till 1976. In that same year he relocated to Lebanon NH where he began work with Profile Sports. In 1984 he took a job working for Dartmouth College until his retirement in 1997. Upon retiring Jack moved to Ocala Fl.

Jack enjoyed playing Basketball, Fast Pitch Softball Tennis and Golf. On the basketball court he was known for his left-handed hook shot. He was well-respected both on and off the courts. Jack’s hobbies included Needlepoint, Cross Stitch, Stamp Collecting and was an avid movie buff He had a love for Disney and taking Cruises with his wife.

Jack is survived by his wife Shirley of 44 years, his sons Larry Ruffing and Patti of Lebanon NH, Jimmy Ruffing of White River Junction VT, Tom Ruffing and wife Jenn of Hudson Falls NY, Jerry Ruffing, Kevin Blake and wife Valarie of Canaan NH and Keith Blake and wife Heidi of Raleigh, NC. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild

He was preceded in death by his mother Fae White, father Edward Ruffing, his brother Ed Ruffing and sister Norma Massafra

There will be a private burial at the Military Cemetery in Randolph VT.
