NORTH HAVERHILL, NH — Bernard Albert Yelle, 90, went to meet his Savior, on October 23rd, 2020, with family at his side. He was born at home, on Child Street, in Lebanon, NH, on July 10, 1930, the only son of Alban and Lorraine (Lacourse) Yelle.
He attended Sacred Heart School through 8th grade, then Lebanon High, graduating in 1948. Bernard served in the US Navy and Reserves.
His future wife, Lois, was swept off her feet by his dancing abilities and they were married June 23rd, 1956. They enjoyed 64 years of happiness together.
Bernard was employed by the B+M Railroad and Decato Brothers trucking firm for 37 years. He also worked as a Bail Commissioner for the city of Lebanon. In semi-retirement, he was the crossing guard for the School Street School. He loved children. Upon full retirement at age 80, he and Lois volunteered at the Lebanon Senior Center and for the Parks Department in the summer.
Bernard was a devout Catholic and regularly attended Sacred Heart Church in Lebanon, NH. He was also a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus.
Most of all, he was a dedicated husband, father, and grandfather. He enjoyed family camping, fishing, and hiking, travel to the NH/Maine Coasts and attending the New England State Fairs. Grandpa Yelle loved his grandchildren and was active in the care of the youngest, Ben, Jon, and Isabella, in their early years. He truly set an example for all of them.
Bernard is survived by his wife, Lois; three sons, Mathew (Karen) Yelle of Hillsboro, OR, Martin Yelle of Lebanon, NH, and Bernard (Cheryl) Yelle of Bradford, VT; seven grandchildren, Brian and Megan (Marcus) of Oregon, Jacqueline (partner, Todd), Benjamin (Hannah), and Isabella of Vermont, Lowell (Abby) of Alaska, and Jonathan (partner, Alyssa) of Massachusetts; six great grandchildren, Kira, Aeris, and Jackson of Oregon, Darius and Caleigh of Vermont, and Cooper of Alaska; sister, Barbara (Kenneth) Valentine of Lebanon, NH; sister-in-law, Martha (Norman) Langlois of Naples, FL; and many nieces and nephews.
Bernard was predeceased by sisters, Maxine Lane and Cecile Broughall.
At Bernard’s request, there are no calling hours. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 31, 2020 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Lebanon, NH.

The family wishes to thank all the staff at Grafton County Nursing home for the care they gave our dad during his last days and well as every day he was a resident there. He was truly treated like family.
