WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Hartford Selectboard member Alan Johnson is stepping down from the board next month because he is in the process of moving to Montpelier.

Johnson, who was first elected in 2016, made the announcement at Tuesday’s Selectboard meeting.

“I’m rapidly approaching a time when I cannot claim residence (in Hartford) anymore,” he said, adding that he was sad to leave the board. His last meeting will be Nov. 5.

The town of Hartford is accepting applications to fill the vacancy through the March 2 Town Meeting elections. Applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Nov. 12. For an application, email Lana Livingston at llivingston@hartford-vt.org or call 802-295-9353, ext. 217.
