THETFORD — The Selectboard has hired the former town manager of Springfield, Vt., to serve as interim town manager in Thetford for up to six months.
Tom Yennerell, who held the Springfield position for more than five years and also has worked as a municipal administrator or manager in Henniker, N.H.; West Rutland, Vt.; and Marcos, Colo., will begin work on Monday and overlap with outgoing Thetford Town Manager Guy Scaife for two weeks, according to a Listserv post from Selectboard Chair Nick Clark.
Yennerell, who left the Springfield job in February, will work three days a week in Thetford and from his Springfield home the other days. He is expected to hold the job for about six months as Thetford searches for a permanent town manager.
Clark’s post said “the contractual agreement is flexible” and could be shortened or extended based on the town’s timing in hiring a new town manager. He declined to discuss the salary terms for Yennerell’s contract when asked.
With Scaife’s departure, Thetford will have seen two town managers come and go since establishing the position in the summer of 2019.
