OLD ORCHARD BEACH, Maine — A 52-year-old Lebanon man was killed late Saturday night after being struck by an Amtrak train in Old Orchard Beach, Maine.
Police say William Grizzaffi was hit by a train after stopping on railroad tracks. At the time, he was walking with his wife and a friend from the community’s downtown to a local motel, according to a Sunday news release from the Old Orchard Beach Police Department.
First responders were called to the scene where Grizzaffi was pronounced dead just before midnight
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in Grizzaffi’s death, which doesn’t appear to be suspicious, the release said.
The incident is currently under investigation by the Old Orchard Beach Police Department, Amtrak Police and Pan Am Railroad Police.
