CLAREMONT — State officials are withholding the cause of death of a seven-day-old Claremont girl who died Sunday after police responded to a call on Winter Street.

Samara Hutnick was found in “medical distress” after police responded to a 911 call around 7:40 a.m. Sunday, according to a news release from the New Hampshire Attorney General’s Office.

She was later pronounced dead at a “local hospital,” according to Senior Assistant Attorney General Peter Hinckley, who declined to name the medical center Monday night.

Dr. Jennie Duval, the state medical examiner, completed an autopsy Monday but “the cause and manner of death are being withheld pending further investigation,” the news release said.

The baby’s death is currently being investigated by the Attorney General’s Office, state and Claremont police.
