EAST THETFORD, VT — Linda Jane Brown, 74, passed away Sunday, August 2nd at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon. She was born to the late Lloyd Moore & Virginia (Dunlap) Palmer. Linda grew up in Framingham, MA then moved to Camden, Maine where she graduated high school in 1963. She received her nursing diploma from Boston Children’s Hospital and received her BS in Nursing from The University of New Hampshire. She was involved in the initial start-up of the Intensive Care Nursery at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and served as head nurse in the department for several years. In her later work at Upper Valley Pediatrics and as school nurse at Thetford Elementary School she devoted herself to caring for the health and wellbeing of children in the community.
Many things brought Linda joy, but nothing like her family. She enjoyed her pets, gardening, sewing, playing piano, traveling and camping. One of her most cherished trips was to Dubai, UAE in 1981 soon after the birth of her niece. Most recently she visited Ethiopia with her daughter and traveled to her son’s home in California. Linda enjoyed being a part of her children’s lives and encouraged them to do what they found most fulfilling.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Brown, whom she married November 18, 1967, their two children Gregory Brown & Mia Brown, sister Carolyn Wurche & husband Hans, niece Saskia Shepro & husband Scott, great-nieces Sabine & Sybella, many cousins, and countless friends. She lived a caring and compassionate life, giving for other’s sake before her own. Her love was a precious gift to receive, one she shared generously.
The family will have a celebration of life at a later date. She will be buried in the Brown family cemetery plot in Washington, ME.
