LEBANON — A four-run rally in the bottom of the sixth inning wasn’t enough to keep the Upper Valley Anglers 19Us from sustaining a 6-5 loss to Seacoast Pirates Silver on Wednesday night in a New Hampshire COVID Baseball League game at Lebanon High School.
The Anglers (10-8) faced a 6-1 deficit when their half of the sixth arrived. Jack Loftus (Hanover High) was hit by a pitch, later scoring on an RBI single from Nolan Gantrish (Hanover). Kyle Young (KUA) drove Gantrish home with a run-scoring single, Kobe Benoit (Lebanon) followed with a single and pinch hitter Andrew Hadlock (KUA) produced a run-scoring ground out to cut the gap to 6-4. Benoit later scored as well, but Upper Valley didn’t get another baserunner past first base.
Seacoast Silver (12-6) led from the get-go, scoring four times in the opening inning off starting pitcher Sam Sacerdote (Hanover). The Anglers had five hits on the night, withGantrish and Young contributing two apiece.
The Anglers remain a game ahead of Dover for a top-four seed in the upcoming NHCBL playoffs with two games left in the regular season. Upper Valley visits New Hampshire Prospects Red on Friday night at the Derryfield School in Manchester.
