THETFORD — Treasure Island, the town-owned recreation area on Lake Fairlee, opened to the general public on Monday, after the town of Thetford had moved in early May not to do so on a large scale because of concerns about the coronavirus.
The recreation area, which is in the town of West Fairlee, is open to the general public on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and weekends from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and is charging a flat rate of $5 per guest for visitors age 3 and above, according to a Facebook post from the facility. Recreation groups are using the facility on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
The Facebook post said a maximum of 50 visitors are allowed at a time, to enable social distancing. The beach was at capacity on Thursday, the post indicated.
