LEBANON, NH — Violet Merrihew, 96, passed away Monday, May 18, 2020 at Genesis in Lebanon, NH. She was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts August 1, 1923 to Willie and Marie (Morin) Bernard and grew up in Enfield, NH. She married Vern Merrihew on January 20, 1940. They resided in Enfield, raising two children, a son Vern Jr. and a daughter, Rita.
Violet was a hard worker throughout her life. She was employed at the Enfield School Lunch Program, Carter Overall Shop in Lebanon, Dorr Woolen Mill, and the Polka Dot Restaurant.
Violet was small in stature, but a powerhouse with her delivery of love and kindness to all. A more loving, sweet, and giving lady you will never find. She was always ready to give a helping hand where it was needed. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and reading. Most of all she enjoyed visiting with her family.
Violet was predeceased by her parents, Willie and Marie Bernard and a sister, Melia.
Violet is survived by her son Vern Jr. and his wife Patty, her daughter Rita Brown and her husband Robert, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Violet’s family offers their thanks to the staff at Genesis for the loving care they provided.
There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.
