Vermont game wardens and state police troopers will step up patrols over the Memorial Day holiday weekend to reinforce existing “Be Smart, Stay Safe” COVID-19 restrictions.
Game wardens plan to patrol state parks and fishing access areas to ensure social distancing and other safety measures are being observed at boat ramps, hiking trails and other public spots, according to a news release from the state on Friday.
State troopers plan to focus on speeding, impaired driving and enforcing seat belt laws, the release said.
Besides wearing face masks in public, the release said, people should ensure gatherings are limited to 10 or fewer people, and non-residents, who are required to self-quarantine for 14 days if they come to Vermont, were encouraged not to travel to the state yet for recreational activities.
