WINDSOR — Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center and the Ottauquechee Health Center are expanding access to some appointments and procedures following the initial peak of the COVID-19 crisis.
The Windsor hospital and the health center in Woodstock said, in a news release on Friday, that they are increasing access to in-person primary care visits and ophthalmology appointments, as well as time-sensitive surgeries and outpatient therapies, which had been postponed.
“People can only wait for so long before minor health issues become urgent, and some surgeries and other procedures are only elective for so long before they become necessary,” said CEO Dr. Joseph Perras in the release.
Hospital officials say they have an adequate supply of anesthetics, pharmaceuticals and personal protective equipment, including masks, gloves and gowns, to address routine needs and any possible COVID-19 surge. They also are taking special care in cleaning and spacing people apart.
Should the region see a surge in COVID-19 cases, Mt. Ascutney and OHC may need to reduce access to in-person visits again.
