BARRE, VT — Barbara Ann (Millen) Lawlor, 76, passed away on Friday, April 10th, 2020 after a courageous battle with that jerk, cancer.

Barbara moved from Pennsylvania to Bridgewater Vermont as a child. She graduated from Woodstock Union High School and then received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver. Later she received a master’s degree from Plymouth State University in New Hampshire. She spent most of her career as a Guidance Counselor in central Vermont, helping and supporting hundreds of children over the years.

She enjoyed traveling, having spent time in Europe, Asia, Australia and various parts of North America. She was an avid reader and read an average of 3 books a week. She was also a talented seamstress who could create anything with perfection and creativity. She loved playing and winning Scrabble or settling in to watch a high stakes tennis match. More than anything, she enjoyed spending quality time with family and friends.

Barbara is survived by her three adoring children, Bill, Craig and Kathrin and her 6 beloved grandchildren, Isaiah, Amelia, Sophia, Noah, Rima and Aya and her baby brother Bob, older sister Doris and sister-in-law Joy, as well as many other extended family members and close friends. She was predeceased by her two brothers Jim and Dave and her parents James and Catherine (Bishop) Millen.

Barbara valued the large and small moments in life. To honor her memory, her family suggests that you enjoy a walk in the woods, stopping to smell the flowers along the way or watch the birds jump from branch to branch, read a book, explore a new town, do a jigsaw puzzle with your grandkids, enjoy a warm meal with good friends and hold close the ones you love, while you have the chance.

Not gone. Just gone ahead.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
