WEST LEBANON — The Hannaford supermarket off Route 12A in West Lebanon was closed for about two hours Thursday as technicians worked to repair a chemical leak.

The store was evacuated as firefighters responded to a call reporting a “gas leak” around 11:20 a.m., according to Lebanon Fire Chief Chris Christopoulos.

The problem was determined to be a Freon leak in the cooling system used in the store’s produce area after a technician at the site found a hole in piping, he said in an email.

The store remained closed until about 1:30 p.m. to allow for repairs and remove Freon in the pipe system, Christopoulos said. There were no injuries.
