SOUTH ROYALTON, VT — Joyce Joslyn Ainsworth, 96, died on April 8 at Valley Terrace in Wilder, VT, where she had resided for the past few years. Joyce was born in South Royalton, VT on July 27, 1923 to Cliff and Marion (Neill) Joslyn. She graduated from the South Royalton High School in 1941, attended UNH in Durham, NH for 2 years, then joined the Cadet Nurse Corp in 1943. Joyce graduated from U Cornell NY Hospital School with a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing in 1946. She continued to work in NY for several years where she greatly enjoyed attending many Theater productions. Joyce also worked at the University Hospital in Denver, CO and at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, FL. She returned to Vermont in 1952 and worked at the VA Hosp. in White River Jct. for 22 years.
In 1972 Joyce married George Ainsworth and they lived on the family farm for many happy years. George and Joyce enjoyed traveling and had been to the fifty US states, all of the Canadian Provinces and many countries in Europe, countries in Central and South America, Australia, and New Zealand. Joyce enjoyed the many family picnics “on the hill”, reading and crosswords puzzles.
Joyce was predeceased by her husband, George Ainsworth, Jr. in 2002, her brother Gordon Joslyn in 2008 and his wife Camille, and by her step-son David Ainsworth in 2019.
Joyce is survived by three step-children Charles Ainsworth and wife Terri of CO, Cynthia Dalrymple and husband Clark of South Royalton, Susan Erickson of Swanton, VT and Peggy Ainsworth of South Royalton, Ten step-grandchildren and Eleven great grandchildren. Joyce is also survived by nephew Cliff Joslyn and wife Lisa of Seattle, WA, niece Sara Joslyn and husband Paul Albert of Silver Springs, MD and their son Jonathan.
