WEST LEBANON, NH — Carl H. Woodward passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at the Jack Byrne Center in Lebanon, NH, surrounded by family and friends, following a brief but difficult battle with dementia, diabetes, and CIDP. He had just celebrated his 76th birthday. Carl was born February 26, 1944 in Laconia, NH to the late Harold A. and Hattie (Boswell) Woodward. He attended schools in Rumney and Plymouth, NH and then served in the Air Force from 1962-1966. Carl married Brenda E. Davis of Barton, VT July 6, 1968 and they had two children, Robyn (George) Hadlock of Plainfield, NH and Randall Woodward (partner, Carolyn White) of West Lebanon, NH. Carl is also survived by five grandchildren, Aimee, Ashlee, Anna, Andrew, and Devin; two great-grandchildren, Carter and Hunter; a sister, Margaret Goodwin of Rumney, NH; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Carl was predeceased by 5 of his 6 siblings, Sheldon, Arlene, Ethel, and twins, Barbara and Betty.
After serving in the Air Force, Carl worked for the Hanover Police Department for 22 years, retiring as Acting Chief in 1988. He then worked for the State of Vermont as a paralegal for the Division of Child Support for 15 years, retiring in 2004. In all his years of service he touched many lives and will be sorely missed. Carl enjoyed riding his motorcycle with the Honda Goldwing Association and RV camping at The Pastures in Orford, NH. Carl also enjoyed dining out with friends, family celebrations and holiday gatherings, attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, and most especially having his kids and grandkids around telling tales.
