CLAREMONT — A 91-year-old Ascutney woman who was struck by an SUV last month as she crossed a drug store parking lot in a wheelchair has died of her injuries, Claremont police said Wednesday.
Irene Gray died Sunday at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center from “the injuries she received after being struck,” Chief Mark Chase said in a news release.
Gray, who suffered a fractured hip and arm, among other injuries, was with one of her sons in the parking lot of the Rite Aid on Pleasant Street in Claremont when she was struck Jan. 20, family members said previously.
Police have identified the driver as Kyliee Bly, 17, of Claremont, and said she was driving a 2015 Jeep Cherokee.
No charges have been filed, and police said the incident remains under investigation.
Police previously said they did not believe speed or alcohol were factors in the crash, but they were looking at the driver’s phone to see if it played a role.
Gray grew up in South Royalton and moved to Ascutney in 1958 with her late husband, where they raised a large family, according to her obituary.
At least three pedestrians have been killed in Sullivan County since late December.
