WEST LEBANON, NH — Eleanor Dawn Nelson, 87, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, February 1, 2020. She was born August 21, 1932 to Thelma G. (Oyler) and Joseph Edward O’Keefe and lived most of her life in the Upper Valley, attending Lebanon High School. Eleanor worked for the Housekeeping Department at Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital and thoroughly enjoyed her position at Price Chopper until her diagnosis of Cancer before Christmas forced her to leave.

Eleanor disliked football and baseball, but loved car racing; Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Jr. were her favorite drivers. She also enjoyed watching TV shows: soap operas, Nash Bridges, Dukes of Hazzard, A-Team, Dog the Bounty Hunter, Three Stooges, Columbo, Sanford and Son, Diagnosis Murder, Cops, and the Waltons. Eleanor also loved animals and old country music.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Barbara O’Keefe; brothers, Roger and Joe O’Keefe; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.

Eleanor is survived by her children, Nancy, Earle, and Oscar (Bertha) Hill; grandchildren, Josh, Andrew, and Tucker Hill; great granddaughter, Avery Hill; sisters, Shirley Bailey and Dottie (Albert) Lassen; brother, James (Yvonne) O’Keefe; and her companion of 30 years, Richard Akins. She also leaves behind many family members, coworkers, and good friends.

Family and friends are invited to Memorial Calling Hours for Eleanor at Ricker Funeral Home in Lebanon, NH 1-3:00 P.M. Sunday, April 26, 2020. A Memorial Service will begin at 3:00 P.M. A reception will follow at the VFW in White River Junction, VT.
