WEST LEBANON — After 43 years in business, the gourmet kitchen supply store Board & Basket in Powerhouse Plaza in West Lebanon is closing after it was unable to secure a new lease with the commercial property’s owner, said Board & Basket owner Mike Beauregard.

Beauregard and his wife, Diane Beauregard, bought Board and Basket in 2013 when previous owners Drew and Claire Nelson retired and sold the business. The Beauregards also own a sister kitchen supply store, Things Are Cooking on Main Street in Concord, which will remain open.

The kitchen store off Route 12A in West Lebanon will close “sometime in the third week of February,” Diane Beauregard said on Monday at the store while she was helping customers with sales.

Mike Beauregard said the store’s five-year lease expired last year and they were seeking a lower rent from the landlord because of the impact that online shopping has had on their business but were unable to negotiate new terms.

Powerhouse Plaza is owned by Jaffe Corporation of Ormond, Beach, Fla., which bought the 81,300-square foot commercial property in 2018 from Woburn, Mass.-based Eastern Real Estate. Eastern Real Estate, in turn, acquired Powerhouse Plaza from Dead River Properties in 2015.
