boys hockey Hanover 2, Windham 1 (OT)

SALEM, N.H. — Jack Stadheim stood his ground in heavy traffic and banged home the winning goal 58 seconds into overtime for the Marauders (8-3-0, 6-2-0).

Hanover took control of the OT draw, moved into the Jaguars’ end and pounded the net on multiple chances before Stadheim converted. Patrick Daley and Curtis Rice earned assists.

Jack Gardner scored in the second period from Casey Graham and Tono Correa to bring Hanover back from a 1-0 first-intermission gap. Ben Plottner had 23 saves, including 10 in the third period.

The Marauders visit Londonderry at Tri-Town Arena in Hooksett on Saturday.

Woodstock 4, Missisquoi 1

WOODSTOCK — The Wasps (7-2-2) pummeled 35 shots on the Thunderbirds’ net and got one-goal, one-assist games from Chase Christensen and Owen Coates at Union Arena.

Dylan DesChamp and Christensen gave Woodstock all the lead it would need with first-period strikes. MVU’s Kyle Gilbert scored shorthanded early in the middle stanza, but a Christensen-fed goal from Coates re-established the two-goal cushion. Charles Greene closed the scoring in the third stanza on a Coates helper.

GIRLS HOCKEY

Hanover 6, Exeter 2

EXETER, N.H. — Sage McGinley-Smith had a four-goal, one-assist night and Gail Morse scored her first two career goals as the Marauders (5-5-1, 5-3-1) rallied from an early one-goal deficit.

McGinley-Smith sandwiched her first two goals around Morse’s first strike to turn a 1-0 hole into a 3-1 lead at the second intermission. McGinley-Smith finished her hat trick early in the third, then she and Morse scored again to put the win in Hanover’s pocket. Meredith Morhun had two assists. Morse joined Natalie Morhun, Lily Seelig and Sophia Brackett in the one-assist club. Katie Smith finished with 14 saves, aided by strong defensive play from Natalie Morhun and Danielle Rudd.

Hanover caps a four-game road trip Wednesday at Brady-Trinity-West.

BOYS BASKETBALL

WRV 44, Woodstock 42

SOUTH ROYALTON — The Wildcats (7-4) forced a Woodstock turnover in the final seconds to secure a narrow victory.

White River Valley held a 44-39 lead when the Wasps’ Harrison Morse canned a corner 3-pointer to draw within a basket. After a quick foul and a missed WRV free throw, Woodstock tried to set up a tying or winning hoop only to have the Wildcats steal possession away.

Carder Stratton had 15 points and Dominic Craven netted third for WRV. Morse had a game-high 16 points for the Wasps (1-12), whose last five losses have been by six points or fewer.
