CANAAN, NH — Heather (Bird) Poland of Canaan was called home on December 22, 2019, after a lifelong fight. She was born in Lebanon, NH, on May 19, 1987, the daughter of Tammy Healey.

Heather graduated Lebanon High School in 2006. She never let her disability slow her down. She worked in the Upper Valley and participated with New Hampshire Special Olympics. Heather taught many of us to never give up. She was the epitome of strength and courage, she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind and loved unconditionally.

She enjoyed vacationing with her grandparents, walking her dog, and family get-togethers. She was a huge Red Sox fan and loved every animal she met.

Heather was preceded in death by her grandmother, Sandy Healey. She is survived by her loving mom, Tammy Healey; sister, Holly Hamel; brother, Thomas Hamel, Jr.; and grandfather, William Healey, Sr. She leaves behind a nephew, Thomas Hamel 3rd, aunts, uncles, cousins, along with many lifelong friends.

Fly high Sweetheart, you have earned your wings.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Visions in Enfield, NH, Sparks, or New Hampshire Special Olympics.

A celebration of life will be held in the spring.
